Mirror

Mirror

‘Mirror’ allows subjects to see and interact with themselves in real time through video screen projection and sound input. This allows subjects to dictate the scope of infinite possibilities of responses within set algorithms. The essence of the installation is exploration, and all ‘looks’ are visually reflective of that.

IF ANY ARTFORM CAN CLAIM THE MOST IMPERATIVE ROLE IN FILM, IT’S SOUND DESIGN.

While it was Transformers that first inspired me, studying at University taught me there is more to sound than never heard before metallic transformations and sonic booms. Discovering films, such as Zodiac and No Country for Old Men, taught me that sound can take a more subliminal yet just as effective role, even becoming a character of its own.

Drawing upon my electronic music influences, particularly Drum and Bass, I found a crossover of sound design techniques that I could employ to separate myself from the rest – My Own Voice. The pursuit of always recording original source material to create something never heard before is what makes each world and project its own.

Film has also given me an appreciation of the marriage between visual and sound. Through exploring visuals and light my assimilation of how different artistic mediums can interrelate has grown.

My personal endeavours provide an opportunity to develop a more diverse skill set; however, what has always drawn me to film is the team effort as sharing success with a group of PEOPLE is much more rewarding than on your own.
