Colourful Demon Series
Colourful Demon Series
This series of illustrations is a set of 6 artworks, completed over several years. Rocky has used robots as a metaphor for people, with their machinery representing various characteristics of human nature. His robots are aspirational, representing the kind of person Rocky would like to embody, having confidence and strength in social situations. The robots are well armoured with defensive appendages and weaponry, symbolising the protective strategies that he uses to feel comfortable around strangers. Each robot has a distinct colourway and symbolism. Can you recognise the man made and natural objects included in the artworks?

Rocky is a self taught Autistic artist based in Perth. His artworks reflect his fascination with architecture and built environments, as well as classism and the elite. His art practice helps him to navigate and communicate his internal struggles of living with autism and feelings of isolation. Rocky creates highly detailed geometric illustrations using pencils and watercolours, and experiments with other media like video and sculpture. Rocky has recently begun exploring photography, focusing on buildings and birdlife, making connections between subjects that are elevated above society, viewing the world below at a great distance.
