Liminal

Liminal

‘Liminal’ is a large photographic installation that simultaneously examines the specialness, ordinariness, and temporariness of the human life/species. The work is a series of three life-size photographic images that explore these ideas.

A ‘liminal’ space is a crossing over space – a space where the things that have been known are left behind but the things that will be, have not yet arrived. It’s a realm of transition vacillating between a boundary-free dimension and the world of form and structure – and it is a concept that speaks to the shift of an entire society that is going through a crisis or a collapse of order.

And as we transit through the world’s present liminal situation, not only are our lives and rituals in a state of restructuring, but so is the understanding we have of our own frailty and vulnerability and the liminal nature of our human bodies.
