Abiogenesis

Abiogenesis

In 1871, Charles Darwin addressed the question of how life arose on the planet, suggesting that the “original spark of life” was generated in a pond of hot water which contained a variety of chemical compounds, electricity, light and other conditions that produced the first proteins capable of organizing themselves and producing life.
This installation intends to imitate original conditions under which this process could have taken place. We find ourselves in a hostile earth environment 3.5 billion years ago surrounded by water, intense ultraviolet radiation, extremely turbulent atmosphere and bombarded with asteroids. Our impact on this environment by pressing on the canvas creates electricity, combines elements and synthesizes first simple forms of life.
