Construct of Woman

Construct of Woman

“Construct of Woman”

This piece started out as a fun, figurative piece, experimenting with a homemade dip pen and acrylic ink. As the painting developed, a conversation started between the canvas and myself about the public gaze and what it is to be a modern woman – the expectations; the styling, the makeup, hair, the jewellery, the “look” …being perfect.

The works in this series are anything but typical or expected, or “perfect”. They are imperfectly perfect; lopsided, colourful, zany, quirky, fun. Conversation starters. Attention getters.

I hope you enjoy.
